Map15: Fall Of The Slimeking

Drake O'Brien Ovational Megawad

Drake O'Brien's maps in TNT: Evilution have always seemed magical to me. His maps were the ones that most felt like real locations that I could explore and get lost in. I spent hours just wandering around in his maps, admiring the colossal landscapes and winding paths. So when MtPain27 asked me if I wanted to make a Drake O'Brien tribute map, I knew that I had to put my all into it.

The premise of the map is that there are giant spacehips floating above a city, and pouring slime down onto it. You start inside a bunker on the edge of the city, and you have to make your way to the surface, get onboard one of the spaceships, and stop the invasion.

Initially I just made a bunker getting flooded with slime, and I didn't actually decide on what the source of the slime would be until I started making the outside area. There's two reasons why I decided on spaceships:

• I thought that map15 of Road To Hades had a lot of missed potential, as you only get to see the side of the spaceship in that map. I thought it would look much cooler if it was hovering ominously in the background, or even directly above the map.
• I was in the middle of playing Ancient Aliens at the time.
